CaseyGerry partners serve on the Plaintiffs Steering Committee which is overseeing the national MDL litigation against the National Football League, and were involved in vetting the deal that resulted in a tentative $765 million settlement for former players. Additionally, CaseyGerry is representing the four children of Junior Seau, the former San Diego Chargers player who committed suicide last year at the age of 43. The firm has participated in many landmark cases over the years, from helping more than 1,000 fishermen in the wake of the Exxon Valdez oil spill to representation of victims of asbestos exposure and asbestos-related illnesses. It was also a major player in California’s tobacco litigation, which saw a recovery of some $25 billion. Firm attorneys have played a role in some of San Diego’s most high profile cases, among them a nearly $5 million settlement for a severely injured high school football player, an $8 million class action settlement with the City of Chula Vista and a $7.5 million settlement in a complex premises liability case. Other recent litigation includes a $9.5 million settlement for victims of the Reno air catastrophe and a $32 million settlement with Bank of America in a landmark robo-calling case. Additionally, during one of our nation's most challenging times, CaseyGerry attorneys played a key role in developing the legislation and policies that led to Trial Lawyers Care (TLC), an unprecedented program which provided pro bono legal support to the families of the victims of 9/11 – enabling hundreds upon hundreds of families to better cope with the aftermath of this tragic event. The program, in which volunteer lawyers represented more than 1,700 families, was the largest pro bono undertaking in the history of American jurisprudence.
