David S. Casey, Jr., a senior partner in the firm, has practiced for over 30 years in the area of serious personal injury and wrongful death litigation. He has been recognized as Lawyer of the Year by the San Diego County Bar Association, listed in "Best Lawyers in America,” and named by the Los Angeles Daily Journal as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in California. In 2003, Mr. Casey was elected by his peers to be the president of the 65,000 member Association of Trial Lawyers of America. (now known as the AAJ--American Association for Justice). He is featured on the cover, and in a feature story in the 2007 Southern California Super Lawyers magazine.Mr. Casey obtained the largest personal injury settlement in history against the City of San Diego and the largest personal injury highway design verdict in history against the County of San Diego. He represented former Governor of California Gray Davis in the successful tobacco litigation, helping achieve a recovery of $25 billion for the State of California.As a leader of the national trial bar, David Casey, Jr. played a pivotal role in creating the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund mandated by the U.S. Congress, and setting in place the largest .pro bono program in the history of American jurisprudence, helping thousands victims after 9/11.
