As a teenager, Theresa watched her father struggle with insurance companies from his hospice bed. Instead of enjoying his family during his last weeks, he was trying to protect his family’s future security by fighting the uphill battle against big corporations trying to squeeze every last ounce of profit out of hurt people. Her father needed an advocate and Theresa decided to dedicate her life to protecting ordinary people from corporate greed so that families could focus on what matters. While Theresa always planned on going to law school, she decided to study business practices first.
Theresa studied Business Administration at the University of Colorado, at Boulder where she worked for the Center for Ethics on Social Responsibility (CESR) as an undergraduate student and helped implement college courses that emphasized the importance of corporate social responsibility and its impact on the community. Theresa developed case studies for core business classes that were later published in textbooks and served as Co-Director for the Professional Mentorship Program which paired upperclassmen business students with business professionals. The faculty selected Theresa from among her fellow graduates and recognized her high performance by awarding her the Outstanding Finance Student Award. Immediately upon graduation, Theresa led a recitation for freshman business students in their Introduction to Business course.
Theresa graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2013, where faculty awarded Theresa the Lewis R. Sutin Excellence in Trial or Appellate Advocacy Award. Theresa began her law practice by defending the people of New Mexico against government overreach as a civil rights attorney.
Today, Theresa primarily works as a medical malpractice attorney and now serves the people of New Mexico by combating corporate greed and ensuring that the people on Main Street get a fair shake when dealing with corporations that fail to provide the quality of care they promised. Theresa loves what she does and has recovered millions of dollars for her clients over the last 10 years.
Theresa married her high school sweetheart, and they have two boys. When Theresa is not in court or at soccer games, she enjoys the garden.
