Tamasine Davies has been a family law lawyer for over 30 years. Tamasine is the Managing Partner at Soby Boyden Lenz. She has been with Soby Boyden Lenz since 1994. Tamasine earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta in 1991. She attended Dalhousie University, in Nova Scotia, Halifax from 1991 to 1994 earning her Law Degree. Her past work experience includes legal research on Aboriginal Treaty Rights and issues and facilitating Confederacy and Chiefs’ Conferences.Tamasine has been actively involved in the legal community. She has been the Provincial Chair and Co-Chair of the Canadian Bar Associate Law Day Committee; an event to raise public awareness of the Justice system. Tamasine has been an instructor with the Alberta Bar Admission Course (CPLED) through the Legal Education Society of Alberta as well as a mentor through the Canadian Bar Association Mentorship Program for the University of Calgary law students. Tamasine has reviewed and updated family law material for the Legal Education Society of Alberta and presented papers at conference for the Legal Education Society of Alberta.For many years Tamasine was a volunteer lawyer with the Calgary Legal Guidance. Tamasine has been an active community volunteer in addition to her work at Soby Boyden Lenz, sitting on the Board of Directors for the Calgary Counselling Centre; a not-for-profit organization focused on providing counselling services to assist families, couples, individuals, teens and children regardless of financial means. Tamasine has presented professional papers on family law issues, most notable of which was a paper she presented at the 9th World Conference of the International Society of Family Law in South Africa. Tamasine is currently on the Steering Committee for the Canadian Family Law Forum.Tamasine has extensive experience in the areas of support, division of property, parenting plans, adoptions, separation contracts, cohabitation and pre-marriage contracts. Tamasine’s philosophy in family law is to attempt to reach resolution on an amicable basis, as much as possible. When such resolution is not possible, Tamasine has experience at all three levels of Court in Alberta; the Provincial Court, the Court of King’s Bench and the Court of Appeal as well as experience at mediations and arbitrations.
