About Ronald
Ron is a partner at the Firm and head of its Asset Management and Investment Funds Group. Ron practises in the areas of securities, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, primarily in relation to the asset management and venture capital industries. Ron believes that providing integrated securities, tax and practical advice helps clients better achieve their commercial objectives while improving investment products for Canadians.Ron is active in all aspects of fund formation having traditional or alternative asset strategies. He has deep experience with their establishment and financing, the registration of key service providers under relevant legislation and assisting with the acquisition and integration of the operations of acquired organizations. He acts for issuers and dealers in offerings of companies involved in the asset management and fintech industries, and in respect of innovative investment products offered to retail, high net worth and institutional investors in Canada. Ron advises a large number of domestic and international sponsors of investment products on Canadian securities registration matters.Before entering private practice, Ron was a solicitor in the Corporate Finance Branch of the Ontario Securities Commission (1987–1990), with particular responsibility for mutual fund regulation.Ron has authored numerous articles relating to securities regulation and has been a frequent participant at industry conferences. He has been listed in a number of legal directories, including the The Best Lawyers in Canada directory for his work in Mutual Funds Law and Private Funds Law and all editions of The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory in the area of Investment Funds & Asset Management. From 2017 to 2019 he was a member of the Securities Advisory Committee to the Ontario Securities Commission.
