Mark V. Franzen, Esq. is a partner at the Long Beach office of Carroll, Kelly, Trotter, Franzen & McKenna. He graduated from University of California, Irvine in 1974 and from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1978. He has been a member of the California Bar and United States District Court since 1978.Mr. Franzen has achieved the rank of diplomate, the highest ranking of American Board of Trial Advocates based upon number of cases taken to jury verdict. He holds memberships with the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association and the California Medical Legal Committee. For the last ten years, Mr. Franzen holds the AV rating of preeminent AV® in Martindale-Hubbell, which ranks him at the highest level of legal ability and ethical standards.From 1978 to 1980, he worked in the legal research and appellate department of the Orange County Superior Court . He was an associate with Bonne, Jones, Bridges, Mueller, O’Keefe from 1981-1985 and a partner from 1986 to 1995. Thereafter, he was a partner with Baker, Silberberg & Keener from 1995 to 1999. He has been a partner of Carroll, Kelly, Trotter, Franzen & McKenna since 2000.Mr. Franzen has extensive arbitration and jury trial experience specializing in the field of medical and dental malpractice, elder abuse and medical devices defense. He is on the trial panel of various healthcare providers including Norcal Mutual Insurance Company, The Regents of The University of California, CNA HealthPro, Tenet Healthcare, The Doctors’ Company, BETA Healthcare Group, Med America Mutual Risk Retention Group, Inc., and Firemans Fund Insurance Company. After a nationwide search in 2003, Mark was selected by CNA Healthpro to be one of eight founding members of the National Birth Trauma Panel. Mark’s responsibilities with CNA range from monitoring counsel to lead trial counsel in multiple states.He was the 1998 President of the Orange County Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and was voted Trial Lawyer of the year 2000 by the Orange County Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been featured as a “Super Lawyer” from 2005 to the present. In 2012, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2012 Edition of the Best Lawyers in America.
