He was also deputy director of the Office for the Negotiation of the Free Trade Agreement of the same ministry within the group in charge of the negotiation of the chapters on financial services and safeguards of the North American Free Trade Agreement.He currently advises several non-profit entities in microfinance activities (Fincomún, Asociación Promujer, The Ford Foundation and Cemefi) and Transparencia Mexicana, A.C., of which he is secretary of the Board of Directors.
