Richard Leblanc is a partner in the firm’s business law group. His practice focuses on business transactions including secured lending, acquisitions, and franchising and distribution law.Richard is a former executive of the Franchise Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association and is a member of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee of the Canadian Franchise Association. Richard leads the firm’s franchise and distribution law practice.Richard advises on all aspects of franchising and distribution, including compliance with Canadian franchise legislation, disclosure documents, terminations and renewals, purchase and sale of franchise systems, master franchising and multi-unit franchising, privacy and consumer protection issues, enforcement of restrictive covenants and dispute resolution.Richard also advises borrowers and financial institutions in respect of loan transactions, secured debt financings, automotive and equipment financing, franchise finance, acquisition finance and construction finance.Richard is a frequent speaker and writer on commercial and franchise law issues. He contributes the chapter on franchising in Business Laws of Canada published by Thomson West, and the segment on franchising in Sale of A Business, edited by Jay Sernoskie and published by LexisNexis. He also wrote “The Purchase and Sale of a Privately Held Business” for the book Advanced Corporate Procedures, published by Emond Montgomery Publications.
