Matthieu enjoys adding his deadpan humour to any situation. In the throes of a complex case, and with the inherent seriousness of the law profession, this personality trait lends well to achieving the best solutions through the most agreeable means (or the least disagreeable, depending on where you sit!).Matthieu’s clients and colleagues appreciate his availability and his reliability. He joined Monette Barakett as an intern in September 2006. He has been practising law ever since and became a partner in 2016. He presides the firm's marketing committee and actively participates in the recruiting process of law students.He acts as lead for the firm’s labour law reports and is co-author of the work on human rights and labour relations entitled Les droits de la personne et les relations du travail.Matthieu devotes himself primarily to labour law but his practice also extends into health and social services law and civil litigation.He is called upon to advise and assist managers and executive officers in both the public and private sectors, primarily from the health and social services network, the daycare sector (specifically with CPEs, a provincial network of non-profit childcare centres), and from small and medium-sized businesses.Matthieu therefore works actively with several employers in managing their day-to-day labour relations.He also acts as a consultant and helps develop the best strategies and solutions to address the various issues arising from litigious cases. He waits for the right moment to negotiate agreements and regularly represents employers before the courts.Matthieu also serves as spokesperson during collective bargaining, both locally on behalf of many CPEs and regionally before CPE consortiums, as well as within the health and social services network, and for employers in the private sector.
