Ms Griffith is called to the Bars of Ontario and New York and heads up the Toronto office’s Regulatory Practice. Her M.B.A. and extensive business career as a senior marketing executive yield a practical approach to business law, particularly in advertising and marketing. She is a consultant to Advertising Standards Canada, serves on Boards and has spoken on a variety of legal issues at many conferences in both Canada and the US.AREAS OF PRACTICE: Marketing and Advertising Law, Packaging and Labelling Law, Administrative and Regulatory Law, Competition Law (Anti-Trust), Intellectual Property, Commercial and Corporate Law, Wills, Trusts and Estate planning. CLIENTS: Advertising Agencies; Multinational Corporations; Closely Held Private Corporations; Pharmaceutical Companies; Charities; Not-for-Profit Organizations. OTHER PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT (CURRENT): Consultant to Advertising Standards Canada (ASC) in the audit of participant commitments of the Canadian Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative; chair of several Trade Dispute Panels for ASC and member of Consultation Panel reviewing the Trade Dispute Procedures. ASC administers the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards; reviews and clears advertising of alcoholic beverages, consumer drugs, cosmetics, food and non-alcoholic beverages, and children’s advertising; receives and determines consumer complaints; and is the main body for industry self-regulation, providing a mechanism to resolve competitive disputes about advertising.
