Louis Frapporti is a partner in the the firm's Hamilton office. His practice covers a wide range of areas including product liability and insurance litigation, negligence and other tort actions, contractual disputes, and appellate advocacy. Following his call to the bar in 1992, he served a two-year appointment as a clerk to the Chief Justice of Ontario.In addition to his role as an advocate, Louis has occupied a number of management and administrative positions within the firm, including Chair of the Commercial Litigation National Practice Group and head of the Advocacy Department in the firm's Hamilton office. He is also a member of the firm's Insurance and Product Liability National Practice Group.Louis has been recognized by his peers as an outstanding mentor and has been a frequent lecturer on a wide range of advocacy-related subjects as well as on the topic of records management and e-discovery.COMMERCIAL LITIGATION & INSURANCE DEFENCEThe focus of Louis' practice has been representing Canadian, U.S., European and Chinese corporations, particularly manufacturers and insurers, in the defence or prosecution of product liability, negligence and/or breach of contract claims. He is often consulted by his clients in relation to the negotiation of supply and service agreements with a view to mitigating legal exposure and risk. Louis possesses considerable courtroom experience, having tried a wide variety of cases in courtrooms across Ontario. While he is committed to the resolution of disputes on commercially sensible terms, he is firmly of the view that some matters require a trial — and that excellence in trial and appellate advocacy are essential to effective client service.INNOVATIVE SERVICE DELIVERYLouis has invested a considerable amount of time pioneering new and innovative methods of service delivery involving knowledge management tools, customized software, new staffing and billing models. These efforts are primarily centred upon insurance defence and subrogated recovery and are geared towards the handling of larger volumes of claims, primarily for insurers, at lower cost to clients.
