Lisa is chair of the firm’s Environmental practice group. Her extensive experience in representing the government and private sectors in complex litigation and administrative proceedings involves the full spectrum of environmental concerns, including solid and hazardous wastes, air, water, mold, toxic substances, underground tank and pesticides. Lisa’s many years of in-house corporate and government experience allow her to provide cost-effective and practical counsel and to appreciate issues from the client’s perspective, as well as from the government’s.Lisa’s sophisticated national practice includes Superfund and cost recovery, toxic tort litigation and enforcement actions in federal, state and administrative forums, as well as in arbitrations and mediations. She advises clients on air, water, solid waste landfill and RCRA permitting, Environmental Health & Safety auditing, insurance coverage, statutory and regulatory analysis, contracts and record retention policies. Lisa conducts due diligence evaluations, assessing and managing environmental risks and liabilities arising in the course of transactions.A significant portion of Lisa’s practice is devoted to counseling clients on best practices for achieving and maintaining compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and developing risk management strategies to prevent costly litigation. She aids clients by analyzing their operations at every level to identify potential areas of exposure with the goal of preventing future liability.Lisa brings first-hand knowledge and practical business experience to every environmental matter. Before joining the firm, she gained comprehensive enforcement experience as an environmental attorney for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She understands how the government analyzes environmental matters and can anticipate the information and activities it will demand from her clients. Lisa also served as Senior Environmental Counsel for Waste Management, Inc., identifying the best legal and business solutions to accomplish her client’s objectives.Lisa is the former chairperson of the firm’s Sustainability Committee and also advises clients on “green” and sustainability issues. Active in the local community, she serves on the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels of Chicago.
