Key Achievements and Case History
Mr. Quinn’s career is marked by a series of landmark victories, demonstrating his exceptional courtroom skills and unwavering commitment to his clients. Notably, in 1993, he achieved the first settlement against Shiley heart valves, a groundbreaking achievement that fundamentally shifted the legal landscape surrounding medical device litigation. This victory was not only significant in terms of the settlement amount but also set a crucial precedent for future cases. Even more profoundly, a subsequent, smaller case initiated an extraordinary chain of events – demonstrating the ripple effect of his dedication. In 1986, Antonio Rivera sought Mr. Quinn’s help after being severely burned in a roofing accident. The settlement in 1987 resulted in over $350,000.00 for Mr. Rivera, but his story doesn’t end there. Following the settlement, Antonio, deeply moved by Mr. Quinn's support and generosity, established the Emilio Zapata School and Orphanage in Rosarito Beach, Mexico, using a portion of his compensation to provide educational opportunities for dozens of Mexican children. This remarkable act of philanthropy, spurred by Mr. Quinn’s initial assistance, exemplifies his commitment to using his legal skills to make a tangible difference in people's lives.
Adding to his impressive record, Mr. Quinn was honored in 1998 with an Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award for his pioneering work on an elder abuse death case under a newly enacted state law, solidifying his reputation as a leader in his field. The following year, he received the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego for four significant cases: Hildebrand v. Donaldson, Bonillas v. Kaiser, Pancoast v. LeWinn, M.D. and Cooper v. Kaiser.
Perhaps one of the most impactful experiences of his career occurred on September 11, 2001, when Mr. Quinn was in New York representing a client during the attacks. Witnessing the devastation firsthand, he immediately stepped forward to provide pro-bono legal representation to the families of those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center tragedy. In 2004, he and his team successfully obtained over $5,000,000.00 in compensation from the 9/11 Victim’s Fund Special Master for the family of David Berray, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to justice and compassion in the face of unimaginable loss. Subsequent accolades include recognition in Woodward White’s Best Attorney USA since 2007 and his consistent recognition in Best Attorney USA.
Mr. Quinn’s approach to litigation is characterized by meticulous investigation, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of the law. He is dedicated to providing each client with personalized attention and unwavering support throughout the entire legal process.
