Beau Grenier is a respected and highly experienced partner in the Corporate Practice Group and co-leader of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions and private equity team. With over 35 years of experience, Beau’s deep understanding of securities law, corporate governance, and strategic growth opportunities makes him a trusted advisor to executives and boards of directors seeking to achieve their goals.
Beau’s career is defined by significant leadership and operational success. For more than 17 years, he served as the managing partner and board chairman for a prominent AmLaw 200 law firm, guiding its remarkable transformation from a regional firm of approximately 150 lawyers in Alabama to a nationwide powerhouse with over 525 lawyers spread across nine cities in six states and the District of Columbia. This remarkable growth, culminating in a ranking elevation from 181 to 110 in the AmLaw 200, is a testament to his strategic vision and leadership abilities.
Drawing on his extensive legal knowledge and firsthand leadership experience, Beau empowers key executives and boards to identify and pursue strategic growth opportunities, skillfully negotiate complex business and financial transactions, and ensure strict compliance with federal and state securities and other regulations. He adeptly addresses a wide array of day-to-day operational issues, providing focused, practical solutions.
Beau has represented a diverse clientele, including publicly traded corporations, privately held enterprises, and family-owned businesses, facilitating a broad range of multimillion-dollar transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and changes of ownership. He's advised issuers, underwriters, investors, and other parties in successful capital-raising initiatives, encompassing debt and equity offerings and project financings. Furthermore, he offers expertise in corporate governance, ethics, and board-level matters, ensuring clients operate with the highest standards of integrity.
Beau’s approach is centered on getting the deal done efficiently and effectively. He excels at organizing skilled teams that deliver sophisticated legal counsel precisely on time and within budget. His commitment to client service and the quality of his legal expertise have been consistently recognized by leading publications and ratings agencies, including Chambers USA and Best Attorney USA, where he is routinely listed as a top corporate and securities lawyer.
Beau’s clients operate across a multitude of key industries, including banking and financial services, healthcare, housing, industrial operations, investments, manufacturing, private equity, technology, and venture capital. He has been instrumental in some of the most complex and high-profile transactions of his career, such as leading the divestiture of a large hot-briquetted iron manufacturing business with an enterprise value of approximately $1 billion; a $1 billion restructuring and leveraged recapitalization of a large manufacturing company; a $200 million merger of a health maintenance organization and a national healthcare provider; a hostile takeover that resulted in the $380 million negotiated acquisition of a regional drugstore chain; and an IPO of a family and ESOP owned manufacturing company.
Beyond his corporate and securities work, Beau has a proven track record of fostering economic development opportunities in the southeastern United States. He served as a key liaison between one of the world’s top automobile manufacturers and government entities, external counsel, and other stakeholders, successfully negotiating a project agreement that brought a $1 billion automotive plant to Montgomery, Alabama. This demonstrates his ability to connect businesses with the resources they need to thrive.
