J. Christopher Jensen is a litigation partner in the firm of Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman, P.C., a commercial and intellectual property law firm in New York City. Mr. Jensen’s practice consists primarily of the litigation and trial of commercial and intellectual property cases. Prior to joining Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman, Mr. Jensen served for several years as Chief of the Civil Division in the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York. In 1976, he received a Distinguished Service Award from the Attorney General of the United States. Mr. Jensen also served as an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Law at the New York University School of Law and as a member of the faculty of the NITA Trial Advocacy Institute. Mr. Jensen has been active in pro bono litigation and in 1998 he received the Thurgood Marshall award from the the Association of the Bar of the City of New York for pro bono representation of individuals sentenced to death. His successful representation of Edward Lee Elmore who was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death in South Carolina was the subject of a CNN documentary "Death Row Stories" and the book Anatomy of an Injustice by the Pulitzer Prize winning author Raymond Bonner.
