About Garin
Garin Scollan is an associate in Rivkin Radler’s Compliance, Investigations & White Collar and Insurance Fraud Practice Groups.Garin helps insurers prosecute civil lawsuits under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, including affirmative actions to recover insurer claim payments to physicians, medical clinics, attorneys, public adjusters, and others involved in complex large scale insurance fraud schemes.Garin is currently an Associate Village Court Justice for the Incorporated Village of Lindenhurst. His duties include presiding over disputes involving the interpretation of the village code, vehicle and traffic law violations, and other issues affecting the lives of village residents and the business community.Prior to joining Rivkin Radler, Garin served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where he acted as lead counsel in numerous jury trials. As a trial attorney in the District Court Bureau, Garin successfully prosecuted misdemeanor offenses, including sex crimes, gang cases, assault, DWI, drug possession, and other criminal offenses. Garin was responsible for all aspects of these criminal cases, including investigations, motion practice, plea negotiations, and trials.
