He has been involved in preparation, filing, and prosecution of patents, trade-marks, and industrial designs before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, and been extensively involved in licensing matters as well as trade mark oppositions , expungements, and infringement proceedings. Doak has experience in the areas of patent litigation, patent impeachment and patent ownership disputes, and ownership disputes relating to intellectual property generally, as well as actions involving trade secrets and passing off actions . He has appeared before the Trial and Appeal Courts of the Federal Court of Canada, as well as all levels of the Alberta Courts as well as the Ontario Superior Court and Court of Appeal in matters relating to patents, trade-marks, copyrights and industrial designs and related matters, including employment issues (breach of fiduciary duty) and contractual disputes .
