He retired in 2015 as a Colonel. As an undergraduate at the University of San Diego, he played four years of intercollegiate football and was named in 1981 to the Kodak College Division All-America team and the CoSIDA Academic All-America team.Mr. Herbert strongly values giving back to the community. He founded the St. Michael’s Foundation for Elementary Education in the Central City. In addition, he serves as a member of the University of San Diego’s Executive Cabinet for Athletics and the University of San Diego’s Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the Board of Regents of the Franciscan School of Theology.
