About Chelsea
Called to the Ontario bar in June 2017, Chelsea Smith practises as a bilingual (English and French) associate in the class actions group at McKenzie Lake Lawyers LLP in London, Ontario. Her practice focuses on representing plaintiffs across Canada in complex class action, mass tort, and multi-party litigation involving products liability, consumer protection, and social justice issues. Chelsea completed her Juris Doctor at Western University in 2015 and her LL.B. in Quebec Civil Law at Université Laval in 2016. Prior to obtaining her law degrees, Chelsea graduated from Huron University College at Western University in 2011 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English and French. During her eight years of university studies, Chelsea participated in many extracurricular activities and earned 14 academic awards, including a gold medal from Huron and the prestigious Richard J Schmeelk Canada Fellowship. In addition to working at McKenzie Lake, Chelsea has worked as an adjunct professor at Western Law, where she taught two upper-year Juris Doctor courses and one LL.M. course in French. Before joining McKenzie Lake, Chelsea worked at the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, briefing the Canadian Ambassador and First Secretary, Legal Affairs on a variety of public international law issues. Outside of the office, Chelsea enjoys swimming, reading, and volunteering.
