Mark Kleinschmidt, the Mayor of Chapel Hill and a longtime capital defense attorney, joined the Chapel Hill office in 2012, and Sarah Bennett joined the Charlotte office that same year to handle criminal defense matters. The firm opened up its Wilmington office in late 2012 with the addition of Katherine Lewis Parker, the former Legal Director of the ACLU of North Carolina.
