Bob McBean has practiced civil litigation since 1978. Since the early 2000’s, he has focused his practice on the arbitration and mediation of commercial and insurance disputes.Bob achieved the designation of Chartered Mediator (C.Med.) from the ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC) in 2002. He has extensive practical experience in mediation having mediated hundreds of Queen’s Bench matters. Bob’s mediation experience includes the resolution of personal injury, insurance, commercial, construction, employment, and professional liability disputes.Bob achieved the designation of Chartered Arbitrator (C.Arb.) from ADRIC in 2017. He has conducted numerous arbitrations both as sole arbitrator and Panel Chair in diverse matters including construction, commercial, partnership, shareholders’, lease and development agreement disputes. Mr. McBean has also been retained on numerous occasions as independent Referee in construction contract disputes.Bob is active in the alternative dispute resolution community. He is a past Director of the Mediation and Restorative Justice Centre in Edmonton, past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association ADR Section and sessional lecturer in ADR at the University of Alberta.
