Matthew S. "Matt" Healey

Matthew is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Workers' Compensation law, which is his passion. He has been a critical member of the Workers’ Compensation Department at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin since joining in 2015. He has extensive experience litigating cases before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, which oversees Workers’ Compensation, and has represented his clients before the North Carolina Court of Appeals.He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, graduating with honors, and received his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude. From there, he joined one of the largest corporate defense firms in NC. He quickly grew restless, unhappy representing large corporations and insurance companies. He wanted to help and represent people, and pursued that passion into Workers’ Compensation law.Since that decision, his goal has been “to become the best workers’ compensation attorney in North Carolina and to get the best results for my clients that I can,” and he has earned many accolades along the way.Matthew represents clients with on-the-job injuries and occupational diseases, such as those arising from exposure to asbestos, as well as civil claims that result from a worker being injured by a negligent third party. He has developed a particular interest and focus on representing those with catastrophic injuries, such as spinal injuries, amputations, and traumatic brain injuries.
