Mareine Gervais Cloutier practises tax litigation with the Montreal office and is also a CPA Auditor. Over the past few years, Ms. Gervais Cloutier has represented clients in litigated matters that resulted in out-of-court settlements or decisions. Her areas of expertise include income tax, tax collection measures, protection of information and various aspects of financial fraud. Ms. Gervais Cloutier also assists her clients with respect to their economic activities and assets, in relation to tax and accounting issues. She can, for example, certify or assess the compliance of financial or non-financial information and give advice on this matter. Holding a Master of Management with a specialization in public accounting, Ms. Gervais Cloutier has particular expertise in the protection of ethical whistle-blowers. A member of two professional orders, Ms. Gervais Cloutier also sits on the board of the Office des professions du Québec. This organization's mission is to ensure that the professional orders are providing public protection and advises the government on the continuous improvement of Quebec's professional system. Ms. Gervais Cloutier joined the firm as a student and as an articling student, which allowed her to acquire, for several years, litigation experience before the Court of Quebec (Civil, Criminal and Administrative Divisions) and the Superior Court of Québec (Civil, Criminal and Commercial Divisions). Before joining our Montreal office, she provided legal and tax services within a large accounting firm.
