Karen Montes represents clients across various civil and commercial litigation matters, including those involving defamation claims, torts, trademark infringement, and contract disputes. She also frequently advises financial institutions, private equity funds, purchasers of distressed debt or assets, and creditors in insolvency proceedings, such as collection of monies, foreclosures, bankruptcy cases, and credit reporting.
Her extensive experience allows her to offer comprehensive legal counsel on insurance recovery strategies throughout all phases of a case. Throughout her career, Karen has secured millions of dollars for clients through successful settlements and trials, including those concerning hurricane losses. She is an active participant in educational initiatives related to the Federal Rules of Evidence, deposition procedures, and litigation strategy.
In 2016, Karen was appointed to the Intellectual Property Commission of the Puerto Rico Bar Association.
She also regularly lectures on insurance recovery matters and has been involved with the Board of Directors of the Federal Bar Association-Hon. Raymond L. Acosta Puerto Rico Chapter since its inception in 2018.
