Jennifer Sullivan joined Caplan and Earnest in 1996 where she practices law as the chair of the Health Law Section. Ms. Sullivan has specialized in health law since 1984. She has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® for healthcare law. Her practice at Caplan and Earnest emphasizes all areas of health law including hospital general counsel, development of ambulatory surgery centers and other health care facilities; long term care law; Stark Act and Anti-Kickback compliance, managed care contracting, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, physician contracting and recruitment; professional corporations, professional employment arrangements, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions. She also has a background in employment law specializing in health care employment agreements, shareholder agreements, non-competes, separation agreements/terminations, day to day counseling, and focused policy work. Her clients include hospitals, physicians, mental health centers, long term care facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, and provider networks. Before moving to Colorado in 1995, Ms. Sullivan served as the director of legal services for Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas (1984-1990) and was legal counsel for Sharp Healthcare in San Diego (1994-1995). She also practiced in the health law section of the Jennings, Engstrand and Henrikson law firm in San Diego. Ms. Sullivan is a former Chairperson of the Colorado Bar Association Health Law Council. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association Health Law Section, the American Health Lawyers Association, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. She has participated in numerous other health related organizations including the Health Law Council of the State Bar of Texas. She writes and presents on current issues in the health law field. Ms. Sullivan is admitted to practice in Colorado, Texas and California. Ms. Sullivan graduated from the University of Washington School of Law in 1981 and from Texas A&M University summa cum laude in 1978.
