About Eric
Eric C. Lyons is an associate in Barton’s Nashville office. Eric represents businesses and individual clients in all stages of litigation across a broad range of civil matters such as labor and employment suits, non-compete and trade secret enforcement, bet-the-company litigation, disputes between corporate officers, directors, and shareholders, and general civil litigation defense—as well as advising clients on compliance and risk mitigation outside of the courtroom. Eric has represented clients ranging from small local business owners to a multinational Fortune 500 manufacturer. Eric served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Gilbert S. Merritt, Jr. United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, where he assisted with research and drafting of appellate opinions and bench memoranda in hotly contested business, civil, and criminal appeal cases. Eric earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School where he served as a managing editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review and the Environmental Law and Policy Annual Review. Eric also received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University. Published in the Tennessee Bar Journal, Eric is a co-contributor to an article in the November/December 2024 issue, “Breaking Up the Shell Game: The Corporate Transparency Act and Its Implications for Small Businesses.”
